titleOfInvention | STORAGE-STABLE SOLID FORMALDEHYDE CONCENTRATES WITH FORMALDEHYDE CONTENT BETWEEN 50 AND 70 PERCENT BY WEIGHT |
abstract | Solid HCHO concentrates which are stable to storage and contain 50-70 wt.% HCHO, useful for prepn. of aq. HCHO soln. contg. =70 wt.% HCHO, partic. for conversion to condensation resins, e.g. with phenols, urea, melamine, were prepd. by filling a hot conc. 50-70 wt.% HCHO soln. in a container of thermoplastic foil material which is inert to HCHO; tightly sealing the container immediately after filling so that foil material surrounds the filling in a skin-tight manner, and cooling the filled and sealed container, esp. with cooling-or ice-water or with cooling brine. The filled, closed container may be spread to a flat slab, by means of moulding device, and allowed to solidify to a solid slab with cooling. |
