| abstract | The HV switch has two hollow stationary contact pieces leading off the extinguishing gas and enclosed by a tubular bridging contact. The bridging contact releases the extinguishing gas as it moves to its open circuit position and draws the arc between its arcing electrode and the stationary contact pieces. The bridging contact has a series of nozzles around its circumference in the region of the arcing electrode. The nozzles supply additional extinguishing gas to the point of separation between contact pieces. These additional nozzles increase the switch's break capacity without requiring the blast device's drive force to be increased. |
