| abstract | The mould itself contains the article to be potted, which is surrounded with powdered quartz sand filler. The top of the mould walls project upwards with a greater dia. and the projecting part has internal ribs which act as guide and seating for a lid to the mould. Between the lower edge of this lid and the top of the mould itself there is thus an annular space. The upper projection forms a chamber to determine the resin dosage. When vacuum is applied, air pockets are removed and the casting resin flows through the annular space to pot the article beneath. |
