abstract Reactor for continuous polymsn. has a housing contg movable discs on a common driving shaft and intermediate spacer sleeves with hollow spaces for circulating heating medium, stationary discs arranged between the movable discs, and screws placed in grooves in the stationary discs with spiral grooves and projections towards the flat side faces of the movable discs. The spiral grooves alternate with each other through the splits provided between the stationary discs and the cylindrical outer faces of the spacer sleeves, and connect with th splits existing between the housing and the cylindrical outer faces of the movable discs, and >=1 of the stationary discs has an outlet for removing volatile components of the polymsn. mass. Small dimensions. High load capacity per unit volume. Efficient transport of material through the reactor. Prodn. of polymers having a constant quality.
