titleOfInvention REPRODUCTION PRODUCTS FROM PHENOLS AND DIOLEFIN POLYMERISATES AND PROCESS FOR THEIR PRODUCTION
abstract Resins are prepd by reacting a phenol with a diolefin polymer selected from (I) butadiene homopolymers having a low mol wt (II) a copolymer of butadiene and/or a cycloaliphatic diene with another monomer and/or (III) a copolymer of butadiene or isoprene with a cycloaliphatic diene, the phenol content being 2-50% wt based on poly diolefin. Method gives resins without undesirable side reactions such as cyclisation, gelling, o r corrosion problems. The resins are soluble in aprotic solvents and are partly unsatd, thus undergoing addn and/or polymsn reactions. They are compatible with conventional phenolic resins and have mol wts. of 600-10,000. Used as binders for paints, adhesives and printing inks and can be reacted with a wide range of materials. e.g. terpenes acids, alkylene oxides, or formaldehyde
