abstract The reaction prodts. from the bromination of 1-amino-2-anthraquinone sulphonic acid (1) are filtered and then extracted with an org. solvent b.pt. >80 degrees C. immiscible with water and inert, to recover 1-amino-4-bromoanthraquinone free from 1-amino-2,4-dibromoanthraquinone. Esp. useful for reaction mixt. when concn. suspensions of (1) are brominated. Prefd. solvent is mono-, di.- or trichlorobezene and extraction is at >80 degrees C.
