Conductive paints consisting of electrically-conducting particles e.g. metals or carbon, with a binder of aq. plastics dispersion in an aq. silicate soln. Mfr. of heating films in which current is passed between two electrodes, dissipation of electrostatic charges, shielding against harmful high frequency electromagnetic radiation, etc. Elasticity and resistance to ageing of the conductive film are improved, as well as resistance to sudden temp. increases, e.g. from 20 degrees to 100 degrees C within 10 sec., on switching on. The binder pref. consists of Na and/or K silicate soln., with an age-resistant acrylic resin dispersion, pref. an anionic dispersion contg. an acrylate ester copolymer free from plasticisers and solvents. The conducting particles are pref. of noble metals, or other metals or substances coated with noble metals, esp. silvered Cu particles, or carbon, e.g. graphite or esp. carbon black. |
