abstract | An acrylic resin compsn. contains (a) 5-35 wt.% of a (co)polymer which, in the polymerised form, contains 60-100 wt. % of (i) is not 1 alkyl acrylate in which the alkyl group is 1-8C and (ii) 40-0% of not 1 monofunctional vinyl(idene) monomer, and which has been crosslinked so that it has a degree of swelling 3-15 and a gel content is not 80%, (b) 1-70 wt. % of a copolymer obtd. by polymerising, in the presence of the (co)polymer (a), a mixture of (iii) 10-60 wt. % of not 1 alkyl acrylate in which the alkyl group is 1-8C, (iv) 40-90% of not 1 alkyl methacrylate in which the alkyl group is 1-4C and (v) 0-20% of not 1 vinyl(idene) monomer, and (c) for the remainder, a (co)polymer obtd. by polymerising, in the presence of both the (co)polymer (a) and the copolymer (b), a mixture of (vi) 60-100 wt. % of not 1 alkyl methacrylate in which the alkyl group is 1-4C and (vii) 40-0% of not 1 monofunctional vinyl(idene) monomer. The compsn. is esp. suitable for film sand sheets, which have an attractive appearance, good resistance to weathering and improved mechanical strength. The films may be used in laminates. |
