titleOfInvention | Process for the preparation of acyloxydodecatrienes |
abstract | Acyloxydodecatrienes, useful as raw materials for long-chains alcohols or unsatd. carboxylic acids and synthetic drying oils, are prepd. by reacting an opt. lower alkyl-substd. 1,3,7-octatriene with butadiene and with a 2 - 20C carboxylic acid, esp. acetic, propionic or benzoic acid, in the presence of a salt of Pd(II) with an organic acid, esp. Pd(OAc)2, or a chelate complex of Pd(II), esp. Pd acetyl acetonate, or Pd nitrate, pref. at 0 - 150 (40 - 120) degrees C. Pref. octatrienes have formula CH2=CR1-CH=CH-CH2-CH2-CR1=CH2 (where R1 is H or lower alkyl) and carboxylic acid is R2COOH (where R2 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl); ratio ocatriene:butadiene:acid is 1 : 0.5 - 5.:0.1 - 1 and catalyst conc. is 1 x 10-4-1 g atom Pd/mole octariene. Resulting products have formulae: CH2=CR2CH2-CH2-CH=CHCHR2CH2-CH=CHCH2-OCOR2 and CH2=CR3CH2-CH2-CH=CH-CHR2-CH2-CH2-C(OCOR2)H-CH=CH2. |
