Specifically, trans-piperylene is condensed with maleic anhydride in a resp. mol. ratio of 1.05:1-1.2:1, in an organic solvent at 40-90 degrees C, pref. for 0.5-10 hrs. the products obtained then undergoing heat-treatment at 150-250 degrees C/3-10 hrs. The final product is then cooled to room temp; it is liquid bis-(5-methyl-3-tert. butyl-2-hydroxy phenyl) methane may be used as polymerisation inhibitor. |
