Insect repellants for cosmetic and technical purposes contain >=1 cpd of formula (I): R1OOC-CH(NR3R4)-CH2-COOR2 (where R1 and R2 are 1-8C (pref. 1-4C) aliphatic hydrocarbyl or 5-7C cycloaliphatic hydrocarbyl, R3 and R4 are H or opt.substd. 1-4C aliphatic hydrocarbyl but not both H, or NR3R4 is an opt.substd. heterocyclic ring). Cpds. (I) have good compatibility with skin and mucous membrane, have low toxicity and do not attack plastics articles. |
