titleOfInvention METHODS FOR THE THERMAL AND / OR CHEMICAL TREATMENT OF SHOE GUARDS IN SHAFT FURNACES, E.G. FOR DEACUIFYING ROCKS CONTAINING CARBONATE
abstract Processing such as decarbonation of limestone, dolomite or magnesite are improved by alternatingly suppressing or stopping the supply of gaseous or liquid fuel and combustion air through burners disposed peripherally around a shaft furnace and the introduction of cold air (which later participates in the combustion) at the bottom of the furnace. By this method, the temp. is distributed more uniformly throughout the cross-section of the furnace than the conventional process.
