titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF 2-CHLOROETHYLENE SULFOCHLORIDE
abstract 2-Chloroethylenesulphonyl chloride (I) is produced by eliminating HCl from 2,2-dichloroethanesulphonyl chloride (II) by contacting it at 80-400 degrees C. with an inert material with a large surface area. The process may be carried out in the gas phase, but pref. liquid (II) is heated with active carbon at 110-215 degrees C. (I) is an inter. for dyes, and pesticides, and can be used directly as a monomer for (co)polymsn.
