abstract | 7-Pyrazolylcoumarines are mfrd by treating a hydrazone of formula (I): (where A is an aromatic-carbocyclic or aromatic-heterocyclic residue; R is a subst; R' is H, aryl; R" is H, alkyl, aryl or CN; and n is 0-3) with >=1.1 mol of a Vilsmeier reagent (II); separating the reaction product of formula (III) (where A, R, R' and n are as above and R"' is alkyl, aryl, cyano or formyl, and optionally converting a formyl gp. R" ' into an oxime-, hydrozone-, carbinol-, carboxyl-, carboxylate- or carboxylic acid amide- gp. In (II) Z' is H, Me or Et; Z" is Z' or phenyl, and Z' and Z" may together form the remaining members of a piperidine or morpholine ring. |
