abstract | Powdered copolymer binders for coating metallic household goods, car bodies, sheeting, pipes, etc. consist of polymerised units of (I) 25-60 wt.% styrene, alpha-methyl-, o-Cl, p-Cl- and/or p-tert-butyl-styrene, (II) 30-65 wt. acrylates with 1-12C and/or methacrylates with 2-12C atoms in alcohol gp., (III) 0-25 wt.% Me methacrylate, (IV) 4-20 wt.% glycidyl acrylate or -methacrylate and (V) 3-15 wt.% (meth)acrylic, itaconic, maleic or fumaric acid; copolymers have av. mol. wt. 3000-20000; powders are still pourable at 50 degrees C and have flow temps. of 80-120 degrees C. |
