Catalysts are pred. thus: iron oxide, gamma-Al2O3 or aluminium hydroxide Al(OH)3 and Ca or Mg oxide or hydroxide are ball-milled and then formed into balls, dried, and sintered at 1000-1500 (1310-1320) degrees C. Si cpds. can opt. be added as silicic acid sol and/or potassium waterglass. Sintering takes place in an atmos. practically free of catalyst poisons contng. 1-1000 ppm. O2 and/or CO2/CO ratio of 6-7000:1 and/or H2O/H2 ratio >20:1, and/or has a dew point of not >60 degrees C. if it contains water vapour. |
