abstract N-Hydroxymethyl-2-pyrrolidinone ether derivs. Ether derivs. have formula: (where R is 8-18C alkyl opt. substd. by OH or halogen, 2-18C alkenyl, 2-18C alkynyl, 3-8C cycloalkyl, 6-15C aralkyl, or 6-15C aryl opt. substd. by one or more 1-7C alkyl). (I) are useful as organic solvents, esp. for polymers such as PVC, and for pesticides such as "Deldrin" (RTM). When R is long chain alkyl, (I) have surfactant properties.
