| abstract | Veterinary medical substances are protected by coating them with, or embedding them in, basic polymers. The polymers are insoluble in the rumen juices but dissolve rapidly in the acid juices of the abomasum where resorption takes place. The coated or embedded substance is pref. pred. by homogeneously dispersing the substance in a soln. of the polymer and adding a solvent which is miscible with the solvent for the polymer but does not dissolve, or dissolves only slightly, the polymer and substance. |
