abstract | The regulator armature carries two windings of which only the first receives an impulse when the magnet contained in the flywheel moves past the timing point. Should the flywheel direction be reversed, which occurs if the engine tries to run backwards, a current will be induced in the second winding which will be passed by its parallel diode to earth, thus prevening activation of the sparking plug. The magnets has a single capacitor connected to the coil via a diode which acts as a rectifier and its other terminal is connected to earth. A strong spark is produced when running in the forward direction. |
