abstract | Enzyme and esp. cholinesterase inhibitors in solids, liquids and gases, are detected by use of paired detection strips. A base, pref. of paper, and opt. coated with adsorbant, is impregnated with (a) enzyme, pref. pseudocholinesterase; (b) surfactant, pref. (where x is 12 and m+n = 14); (c) a buffer, pref. 0.01-1.0 M Tris of pH. This is brought into contact with the sample, wetted, left 15 sec.-20 min., and placed in contact with a second base impregnated with a chromogenic substrate, pref. 2,6-dichlorobenzenoneindophenylacetate for 10-300 sec. The resultant colouration is a measure of the inhibitor level. |
