abstract | The salts, esp. sodium phosphate and/or sodium silicate added to control boiler scale etc., are dispensed into the main feed water pipe by a pump. Upstream and downstream of the injection point are two esp. sodium sensitive glass electrodes connected to a differential amplifier whose output regulates the control unit for the dispenser pump. In an alternative arrangement a flow meter is connected in shunt with the main pipe via solenoid valves, again astride the injection point, controlled by a timer also feeding timing signals to gate the dispenser pump control units. Fully automatic regulation prevents excessive doping. |
