titleOfInvention | Urine catecholamine determination - for rapid detection of pathologically high levels |
abstract | Pathologically high urine levels of the catecholamines (nor) adrenaline and dopamine are rapidly detected by boiling up a small sample with a non-oxidising acid other than H3PO4 basifying with a buffer soln. of disodium -EDTA, alkali hydroxide and bromothymol blue, opt. filtering, slowly filtering through Al2O3 impregnated paper, rinsing the filter with a small amt. of water, applying to the alumina-paper a reagent soln. of potassium ferricyanide, ammonium acetate and copper sulphate, filtering off excess reagent after a definite reaction time, and comparting the resulting colour with that produced by reference sample. |
