Method and device for connecting a metal surface with a glass or ceramic surface |
abstract |
1,224,469. Jointing. ELECTROBOND Ltd. 23 Sept., 1968 [24 June, 1967], No. 29250/67. Heading B3V. [Also in Division C1] A metal surface is bonded to a ceramic surface by applying a heat-curable adhesive between the surfaces and pressing the surfaces together to pressurize the adhesive, and passing an electric current through the metal or through a press tool in contact with the metal or ceramic so as to heat and cure the adhesive. The surfaces are preferably cleaned before applying the adhesive as a flexible film. Current may be supplied to the press tool via electrodes so as to heat the tool. Ducts for conveying fluid for cooling the heated assembly may be provided in the press tool. The heated assembly may thus be rapidly quenched. A control system for the process is described. |
