titleOfInvention | Use of lactams to stabilise chloroacetalde - hydes |
abstract | Chlorinated aldehydes, especially chloral or dichloracetaldehyde, are stabilized by the addition of up to 10% (preferably 0.05 - 0.5%) of a lactam of 4 - 7 membered ring containing 3-6C atoms, preferably caprolactam. These lactams will prevent polymerisation and discolouring of the aldehydes, even in the presence of transition-metal compounds. |
