abstract | Sulphate is removed from technical (wet process) H3PO4 by treating with CaO, CaO hydrate, CaCO3 or Ca phosphate and then diluting with an aliphatic alcohol or ketone which is miscible with H2O and H3PO4 in all ratios. Pref. the Ca is added in at least stoichiometric amount, and the solvent: P2O5 ratio is 1-12:1, pref. 7-10:1. |
