titleOfInvention | Partly evacuated galvanic elements - hermetically sealed with thermoplastics, wax or bitumen |
abstract | In prodn. of partial vacuum in galvanic element by introducing small amt. of rapidly vaporising org. solvent and then hermetically sealing with thermoplastic plastics or pourable sealing compsn., e.g. wax or bitumen, as in DT 2009029, solvent is injected in vapour form into upper part of element. Solvent vapour displaces air and then diffuses and/or reacts with active electrode material during storage, causing partial vacuum, so that distortion of element is avoided. Less solvent is needed when this is used in vapour, rather than liquid form. Method is simple and cheap and does not reduce output in mass prodn. |
