titleOfInvention Catalyst system for olefin polymerisation - consisting of ziegler type catalyst on carrier contg chemically bound metals
abstract Catalyst system consisting of (1) a pulverulent (0.1-2000 mu) inorganic carrier on which is deposited (2) a Ziegler type catalyst comprising (2a) a chloride, oxychloride or alkoxychloride of Ti, Zr or V, and (2b) a satd. metal alkyl, alkoxyalkyl or alkyl halide of Al, Mg or Zn, the weight ratio (1):(2a) being 100:0.1 to 100:10 (with respect to the transition metal), and the metal atom ratio (2a):(2b) being 100:1 to 100:10000, is improved in that the carrier (1) is produced by heating for 1-100 hrs. at 150-600 degrees C a material having the general formula: (MeII)m.(MeIII)n.(OH)o.(CO3)p.H2Oq (where MeII is a metal in the divalent state; MeIII is a metal in the trivalent state; m = 1-10; n = 2-5; o = 2-24; p = 1-3; and q = 0-10, all being integers; with the proviso that 2n + 3m = o + 2p = 8-26). High polyolefin yields are obtained per wt. unit of the catalyst system. The mol. wt. of the product can be controlled with the use of hydrogen.
