EDTA derivs., obtained by direct reaction of EDTA with compounds having an H replaceable by an acyl function, including those contg. N, O, P or S, are, for example, chelating and preserving agents, stabilisers, coagulating, fire-proofing agents, detergent charges and agricultural chemicals. Symmetrical di-secondary amides of EDTA, obtained by reaction of an alkaly- or aryl-haloacetamide with ethylenediamine or a sym-EDDA are chelating agents useful for transition metals, e.g. Cu, Ni, Co. |
