A formulation for preventing pathogenic E. coli infection, the formulation comprising:a biotin;a biotin protein ligase BirA, which serves as an enzyme that metabolizes the biotin; anda negative transcription regulator of the biotin synthesis operon (bio operon) containing bioA and bioBFCD regulates biotin synthesis in E. coli depending on biotin supply and demand,wherein BirA in combination with biotin directly binds to the 40 bp biotin operon ( bioO) binds to repress transcription of the bio operon when biotin levels are too high for bacterial physiology. |
