Oxygenator for delivering an oxygen-enriched breathing gas (12) with (A) a breathing gas source (14), which is adapted to generate the oxygen-enriched breathing gas (12), and (b) a breathing air hose (26) adapted to direct the breathing gas (12) from the breathing gas source (14) to a consumable location (36), characterized in that (C) the breathing air hose (26) has a detector wire (34) which is designed such that at least one electrical characteristic (R) measurably changes when the breathing air hose (26) is defective, in particular burns or is interrupted, and (d) that the oxygen device (10) is configured such that the respiratory gas source (14) only delivers breathing gas (12) into the breathing air tube (26) when the detector wire (34) is intact. |
