titleOfInvention Removal of calcium from sulphite spent - liquor
abstract Liquor containing Ca salt is treated with regulated amounts of substances yielding Mg + and SO3 = ions and pH adjusted so that Ca is precipitated as CaSO3, MgSO3 concentration being is not 25% of saturation concentration when precipitation of CaSO3 is complete. Pref. ore containing Mg is used, so that valuable chemicals are recovered from soln. and at the same time, Mg is recovered from ore. Ca, Ca/Mg or Mg sulphite spent liquor can be treated.
