abstract | A spark plug has molten portions (45) formed by laser welding welding a leading end of an Ir alloy member (42) to a leading end of a nickel base alloy base member (41) of a ground electrode (40) to overlap with each other with the Ir alloy and the nickel-based alloy mixed with each other outside a range in which the spark is regularly emitted. Another leading end of the base member made of the nickel base alloy is fixed to the housing (10) and both the element made of the Ir alloy and the base member made of the nickel base extend perpendicular to an axis of a housing, so that another leading end (43) of the Ir alloy element may face a leading end (31, 31a) of the center electrode (30) with the spark discharge gap (50) therebetween. |
