titleOfInvention Process for gluing paper in the mass and the surface
abstract Process for gluing paper and cardboard in bulk or on the surface using an aqueous glue bath of a modified biopolymer from the series of starches, celluloses and galactomannans containing hydrophobic and cationic structural elements. The modified biopolymer to be used according to the invention has substituents of the general formula DOLLAR F1 bonded via an ether bridge, in which R · 1 · is a linear or branched hydrophobic hydrocarbon group having 8 to 22 C atoms, R · 2 · and R · 3 ·, which may be the same or different, represent an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and X represents an anion of a mineral acid or lower carboxylic acid, and the degree of substitution of the modified biopolymer is in the range from 0.005 to 1.0. The papers glued with this feature are characterized by lower water absorption values.
