abstract A variant of the tumor suppressor p14 (ARF) is described which is resistant to proteolytic degradation and a nucleic acid molecule coding for this variant. Also described are peptides that prevent its proteolytic degradation by binding to p14 (ARF) and nucleic acid molecules encoding these peptides. In addition, vectors containing these nucleic acid molecules are described which are suitable, for example, for gene therapy of tumors. Finally, pharmaceuticals are described which contain the above nucleic acid molecules or vectors or the proteins or peptides encoded thereby, preferably for the treatment of leukemia.
