abstract |
An iron-silicon-aluminum alloy layer is deposited over an amorphous alloy seed layer to provide a shield for a reading element in a data magnetic head. The percentages by weight of iron, silicon and aluminum in the iron-silicon-aluminum alloy are each selected so that the alloy has both a magnetic restriction close to zero and a clear magnetic crystal anisotropy. The use of the amorphous alloy seed layer leads to greater magnetic crystal anisotropy in the shield. |
