abstract The invention relates to a method for shielding the surface of a tool in glass production or in glass processing. DOLLAR A The inventors have recognized that secondary bubbles or devitrification are the result of contact between the glass melt or glass on the one hand and the tool on the other. DOLLAR A In order to avoid these shortcomings, it is provided in both cases according to the invention to coat the tools with a material which has a low diffusion coefficient D and a low solubility.
