The invention builds on the surprising finding that in Candida albicans, one of the most important human pathogenic fungi, a phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase involved in signal transduction of intracellular protein transport processes is of essential importance for the virulence of the germ in the mouse candidosis model. The invention relates to the use of fungal Pl 3 kinases to find new antifungal substances with the aid of cell-free and cellular test systems, the influence of substances or mixtures of substances on the biological activity of such Pl 3 kinases being investigated. Another object of the invention is the provision of test kits for the use of target-oriented, cell-free and cellular screening systems for the search for substances with an antifungal effect. |
