abstract The present invention relates to a matrix for a molten carbonate fuel cell, which can be produced from a slip offset by shaping and drying and contains LiAlO 2, a component which acts as a crack stopper and a metallic component. It is provided according to the invention that FeCrAl particles are contained as metallic component, the surface of which has a layer of Al 2 O 3. The present invention further relates to a method for producing such a matrix from a slip offset, wherein FeCrAl particles are pre-oxidized in air, so that a layer of Al 2 O 3 forms on the surface of the particles and the slip offset by dispersion of the solid components in an aqueous liquid phase is produced. The resulting matrix is characterized by great strength.
