abstract |
The invention relates to an exhaust gas purification system for cleaning the exhaust gas of a combustion source, at least of nitrogen oxides contained therein, with an ammonia generation catalyst for generating ammonia using components of at least part of the exhaust gas emitted by the combustion source during ammonia generation operating phases and with a downstream nitrogen oxide reduction catalyst for reducing nitrogen oxides contained in the emitted exhaust gas of the combustion source using the ammonia generated as a reducing agent. DOLLAR A According to the invention, the exhaust gas purification system includes a nitrogen monoxide generation unit external to the combustion source for enriching the exhaust gas supplied to the ammonia generation catalyst with generated nitrogen monoxide during the ammonia generation operating phases. DOLLAR A use e.g. B. for cleaning the exhaust gas predominantly lean-operated motor vehicle internal combustion engines of nitrogen oxides contained therein. |
