titleOfInvention | Process for the production of very fine crystalline silicon nitride powder |
abstract | The invention relates to a process for the production of fine crystalline silicon nitride powder which can be used as a starting material for the production of non-oxide ceramic components by known sintering processes. The aim of the invention is to solve the problem of obtaining free-crystalline silicon nitride powder in a small crystallite size range in order to ensure a uniform, homogeneous, narrowly limited grain size distribution even in a fully sintered silicon nitride material. The procedure according to the invention is such that a phase conversion of the silicon nitride is carried out in a mixture of silicon nitride powder as an amorphous precursor with at least one additive which forms a liquid phase as a melt. The phase change takes place above the melting temperature in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. |
