titleOfInvention Method and device for monitoring aerobic environmental biotechnological processes
abstract In environmental biotechnology, microorganisms with special metabolic performance are used. For a trouble-free process, continuous monitoring is required, which constantly provides information about the current substrate utilization potential of the microorganisms. The determination of the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD 5 according to DIN 38409-H51) is known for obtaining such information - but is not very suitable for ongoing monitoring. Even known methods and devices for rapid BOD determination using defined non-process microorganisms can only solve this problem to a limited extent. The required measuring devices are very complex. DOLLAR A The invention is therefore based on the problem of developing a method for low-effort laboratory BOD determination and for the continuous monitoring of aerobic environmental biological processes and thus for controlling these processes. In addition, a suitable device for performing this method is to be created. DOLLAR A According to the invention, process-specific microorganisms are introduced into a measuring chamber in a flow system, calibrated, subsequently overflowed with samples, and changes in state variables are detected and evaluated. The microorganisms are immobilized or freely suspended in the measuring chamber. The associated device consists of one or two measuring chambers and a control and evaluation unit. In the measuring chambers, signal transmitters are spatially closely coupled to the ...
