abstract A substance whose total concentration of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) with an N-terminal amino acid sequence of the sequence IVGGWECEKHSQVLVAS is at least 90% by weight has at least one isoform of PSA whose isoelectric point is at least 0.6 pI below the isoelectric point of non-glycated PSA is present in a proportion of at least 3.0% of the total PSA concentration. The substance can advantageously be used, for example, as a reference substance when determining the concentration of PSA in human blood or serum or when generating monoclonal isoform-specific PSA antibodies.
