titleOfInvention | Process for the production of iron oxide, preferably Fe203 and ferrite powders with a particle size in the nanometer range, powders produced thereafter and their use |
abstract | The invention has for its object to produce on an industrial scale, preferably using several components of naturally occurring ores, low-agglomerate Fe¶2¶O¶3¶ and ferrite powders with a particle size in the submicrometer range (nanometer range, preferably below 100 nm) and thereby to avoid the deficiencies of the prior art. At the same time, it is important to look for advantageous uses for the powders produced in this way. DOLLAR A This object is achieved in a process for the production of Fe¶2¶O¶3¶ with calcination from a solution of precipitated iron hydroxide in that an aqueous suspension of the precipitated iron hydroxide which contains less than 1.5 mol of iron per liter is one Spray drying and the product of spray drying is converted into Fe¶2¶O¶3¶ powder in a short-term thermal reaction in an atmosphere with controlled oxygen content. For the production of ferrites, the concentration of iron is less than 2.2 moles of iron per liter. Before spray drying, the other elements required for ferrite formation, as their compounds, must be suspended or dissolved. DOLLAR A The products produced according to the invention can preferably be used as pigments and for the production of magnetic materials. |
