abstract | The present invention relates to a method for determining the oil quality with the aid of a sensitive layer which is embossed in such a way that a constituent contained in oil, which forms when the oil ages under the conditions of an internal combustion engine, is specifically incorporated or can outsource. According to the invention, at least one acidic component that results from the use of the oil is investigated as the analyte, the sensitive layer comprising at least one ceramic material that can be produced from a sol-gel phase. The invention further relates to an oil quality sensor which is used in the aforementioned method for determining the oil quality. The material used for the sensitive layer of the oil quality sensor can be obtained, for example, by implementing certain amino-substituted silanes. The particular advantage of the sol-gel phase used is that the sensitive layer of the oil quality sensor is particularly resistant under its operating conditions. |
