titleOfInvention Process for the formation of triple helix-forming oligomers and their compounds
abstract The invention relates to a process for the formation of triple helix-forming oligomers and their compounds, in which a region with a suitable sequence is sought in the section of a DNA double strand from which the oligomer sequence is derived. DOLLAR A object of the invention is to provide a process for the formation of such oligomers and their compounds which form triple helices of high stability and selectivity with double-stranded DNA under physiological conditions and in areas where the duplex sequences also have a structure other than homopurine-homopyrimidine. DOLLAR A According to the invention, triple helix-forming oligomers and their compounds are produced by selecting from the DNA double strand a region of a nucleic acid strand which is rich in cytosines and / or rich in adenines, and oligomers or their compounds are synthesized in which the oligomer sequence matches the sequence of the selected region of the nucleic acid strand, including the strand orientation. Thus, triple helix-forming oligomers and their compounds can also be created for those nucleic acid regions in which there is neither a homopurine nor a homopyridine sequence.
