abstract A method for joining a link chain link, in which at least one link with at least one bolt is connected to one another by a pressing and aligning process, is to be improved. This is done in that the bolt is centered on the front sides of a main chain axis by simultaneous active application of symmetrical clamping forces and the at least one link is pushed relative to the bolt into a position symmetrical to the main chain axis by a joining stroke. Furthermore, the invention relates to an apparatus for performing the method.
