abstract The present invention relates to a method for the preparative preparation of fatty acid esters, preferably unsaturated fatty acid ethyl esters, from biological sources with the aid of a continuous combined in-situ extraction-reaction chromatography, which is characterized in that at the same time and in the presence of a compressing gas including a 0.5-5% stream of lower alcohols as a modifier and in the presence of an inert catalyst there is a complete transesterification of the fatty acids from their native fatty acid sources, which are selectively desorbed and eluted under the specified conditions.
