abstract A locking and unlocking unit of a roll bar in an electromechanical rollover protection system of a vehicle with an electromagnet, a locking device and a holding rod with holding device should be designed so that the locking and unlocking unit can open with a time delay of the holding pawl even after actuation of the electromagnet. For this purpose, it is proposed that the locking device has two pawls which are arranged one behind the other in terms of their effect and are triggered by the electromagnet, a permanent magnetic element holding the locking device in the unlocked position after the locking device has been triggered.
