abstract A medical instrument (10) for the endoscopic removal of the vena saphena magna has an elongated shaft (12) which has a spatula tip (14) at the distal end and in whose proximal area a laterally protruding handle (16) is arranged. The instrument (10) also has an endoscope optics (22) which has an eyepiece cup (26) which is arranged at the proximal end of the instrument (10). The handle (16) is connected to the shaft (12) in such a way that an outside (18, 40) of the instrument facing away from the handle (16) has a substantially uniform surface from the distal end to the proximal end. The eyepiece cup (26) is arranged substantially obliquely on the same side as the handle (16) with respect to a longitudinal central axis (20) of the shaft (12) (Fig. 1).
