abstract What is described is a thermal transfer ribbon with a support, with a thermal transfer ink depicted on one side of the support and optionally with further layers, wherein the thermal transfer ink contains an amorphous polymer and a wax in addition to a colorant. This is characterized in that the thermal transfer ink contains as binder a polar polyethylene wax and an amorphous polymer having a weight average molecular weight Mw of more than about 10,000 and a number average molecular weight Mn of less than 6,000. It turns out in prints with high energy levels of a thermal printer on particular plastic labels as scratch and solvent resistant.
